MY ART

I am purposeful about developing leaders and organisations.  My practice intersects at three key areas; enabling leaders to realise their potential, creating strategic agility in organisations, and facilitating how group dynamics enable or hinder high performance. Mindset is of deep interest to me when developing leadership, in addition to skill & capability development.  I draw from an eclectic body of theory and methods such as complexity and integral theories, sense making and systems psychodynamic approaches.  I believe development is more effective when grounded in the context of the organisation or leader’s system, and growth encouraged within that context.

"Working with Matt has been one of the most rewarding and positive experiences of not only my career but my life! It has given me great confidence in my leadership and opened my mind to a plethora of different ways of thinking."

MY PRACTICE

I specialise in leadership development (both horizontal and vertical), executive team development, human and organisational change and transformation, and system dynamics.  I enjoy group and one to one executive coaching, action learning, process facilitation, co-facilitation and working with both small and large group dynamics.  I am passionate about designing and delivering more significant developmental interventions for organisations and systems.

MY SCIENCE

Until recently I was a Principal Consultant at Melbourne Business School (MBS).  In this role I partnered with organisations to design and lead large customised executive education programs, including the Australian Institute of Sport, Accenture Australia and St John New Zealand.

The European Foundation of Management Development has globally acknowledged my work with St John NZ with a silver award for Leadership Development in 2015.  My work with the School continues as an Associate.

I am also the Program Director for two MBS open programs, Leading for Strategic Success (designed to support the most senior organisational leaders responsible for leading whole organisations or functions) and Leading Transformational Change (designed for internal or external consultants who are responsible for leading complex change initiatives within or across organisations).

I have a Masters of Applied Science in Organisation Dynamics (RMIT, Melbourne) and a Bachelor of Education (ECU, Perth).  I am accredited in a range of developmental tools including The Leadership Circle, the Organization Workshop (Power and Systems) and the Facet 5 Personality Profile.  I am a member of Group Relations Australia and a certified professional member of AHRI to support my ongoing professional development.

I returned to Australia in 2007 after 11 years in London, where I co-established and led an executive search and organisational consultancy.  Prior to this start up, I worked as a senior manager in large multi-national organisations in a variety of roles.  I am always seeking new ways to develop myself and learn more about leadership, change and human dynamics.
